Even high levels of determination in sticking to one's diet and regular exercises may frequently not be sufficient to reduce
excessive fat tissue. The liposuction procedure is a solution to this problem. This popular procedure allows to shape the body
through elimination of unwanted fat tissue.
First and foremost, liposuction is used for quick body mass reduction. It aims at body shaping through elimination of unwanted fat tissue deposits in specific body regions. The best candidates for liposuction are persons with BMI ranging from 20-25 kg/m2 and firm, well-tensed skin. Along with age, skin elasticity increases, thus increasing also the risk of development of excess skin. During the consultation, I conduct a detailed physical examination that allows to present realistic expected results of the procedure.
VASER liposuction consists in breaking up the fat tissue and sucking it out using special cannulas inserted in the body through several-millimetres long skin incisions. Depending on the extensiveness of the procedure, it can be performed under local or general anaesthesia. VASER liposuction allows for precise shaping of such area as the abdomen, love handles, buttocks, thighs, arms, neck or double chin.
The purpose of liposuction is not quick body mass loss, but body shaping. Therefore, the procedure removes the fat volume only to the extent needed to obtain a satisfying aesthetic effect in the given region. It is an individual issue for every patient.
Liposuction is often combined with other procedures. It is frequently supplementary to abdominoplasty, a surgery allowing to correct the abdomen, both in terms of excessive fat tissue and skin fold. Liposuction ca be also applied in combination with chin plasty, face and neck lift or breast reduction.
The obtained fat can be also used in the form of fat tissue graft for the purpose of lipofilling.
The seemingly useless fat tissue does not have to be disposed of. The obtained fat tissue can be used in the form of a graft for breast or lip augmentation or facial rejuvenation.
After the procedure, the patient remains under care of qualified medical personnel. If there are no contraindications, the patient is discharged on the same day. Pain ailments are mild ad persist for several days when indicated pain relievers must be used.
The liposuction region remains swollen for several weeks after the procedure. It is necessary to wear special compression
corset/garment shaping the body for 3 to 6 weeks. Massage is also recommended.
In most cases, the liposuction result is noticeable immediately after the procedure. It must be, however, remembered that due to the persisting post-operative swelling and the excess skin tightening effect, the final result is usually obtained after 6 weeks.
It is essential to observe the post-operative indications in this period.
The achieved liposuction result is permanent if proper nutritional habits are observed, combined with physical activity.
Liposuction is a little invasive procedure. Therefore, quick recovery and resuming activity after the procedure is possible. Resuming a typical office job is usually possible already on the next day, but several days off are recommended for the pain ailments to subside.
Cardio type sport activity can be started already after a week. Whereas, more intensive exercises, especially with additional load, should be implemented gradually, after 4-6 weeks.
Liposuction requires several-millimetres long incisions. However, I always aim at placing them in little visible places, such as body grooves or the umbilicus, to hide them.
